Physical Description:
Age: 19
Eyes: Bright green
Hair: Red, long, and usually everywhere
Skin Well tanned, due to his outdoor lifestyle
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 135 lbs
Build: Thin and lithe
Clothing: Skjoldur usually wears simple sleeveless tunics and breeches, usually in muted greens and browns. He also sports a pair of steel vambraces on his forearms. His preferred footwear are riding boots or bare feet.
His only clothing quirk is the cream colored greatcoat he is almost always seen wearing. He also attempts to keep his hair back with a band of green cloth. It doesn't work very well.
Personality:
Rather erratic, Skjoldur is usually described as "distracted". He's always examining things of little importance, and is easily distracted by some interesting work of nature or strange invention. Once he has a sword in hand, however, he is extremely focused. Focused on one thing: Winning the duel. Skjoldur revels in sword fights, and it often surprises people how focused he is when he's fighting, since he's so erratic everywhere else.
Family:
Father: Skjoldur Merchansson
Mother: Helena Merchansson
Brother: Conner Merchansson
Magical Talents:
Skjoldur has absolutely no magical talent.
Weapons and Talents:
Skjoldur owns a decent espada ropera and buckler, and is quite proficient with the pair. The sword's blade is 39" long and sports a vaguely ornate hilt, somewhere between a basket hilt and a simple crossguard, but leaning towards the crossguard. He also owns a hookshot, possibly his favorite possession, and is musically talented.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
A strong swordsman, Skjoldur is also a decent rider and swimmer. He also is easily distracted, and terrible at keeping appointments because of it. If he sees something interesting, you would literally have to pull him away from it. He is also fairly talented musically, but doesn't carry an instrument due to fact that his rough life style doesn't allow stringed instruments (his preferred variety) to be cared for quite the way they should.
History:
Skjoldur's name isn't actually Skjoldur. It's technically Skjoldur III. His family has a thing with odd names. And odd items. Thankfully, his grandfather decided to open a shop, instead of hoarding away odd items; otherwise their house would have been very cramped. At first, his (deceased) grandfather's business didn't do too well, but after the trade routes between Hyrule and Termina were opened, the business took off, specializing in odd mechanical and magical items. The shop fared well, and even prospered some with Skjoldur II's shrewd business skills. Unfortunately for the business, Skjoldur III wasn't exactly the market type. He much preferred spending his time sword fighting, running, and horseback riding. Surprisingly, however, Skjoldur's father wasn't too worried about the boy's aversion to business. Instead, he encouraged the boy's interests, and introduced him to music as well.
Skjoldur's brother Conner was actually the one who was destined to run the shop. Younger than Skjoldur by 3 years, he was the opposite of Skjoldur in interests. Where Skjoldur loved the outdoors and physical activities, Conner enjoyed staying indoors, reading, drawing, and mathematics.
With the business affairs set and (much to Skjoldur's relief) not involving Skjoldur, the boy (Or, rather, young man now) decided he'd like to see the world. Or, more specifically, Hyrule. So on his eighteenth birthday he left the nest. As he traveled, he picked up more than one useful technique in sword fighting, and also, after exploring a rather large cave (the caves glowing stalactites were what drew him), he discovered a rather battered wooden chest. Inside he found his pride and joy--a hookshot. Being the lover of gizmos he was, he quickly discovered the uses of the stretchy and springy object. (Yes, with out a dialog box. He's so smart!)
