Iron Boots: Aids in dungeons and quests.
Physical Description:
Age: 41
Height: 164cm (around 5’4”). He would probably be taller if he was able to straighten out his back.
Build: Due to undernourishment in his later years, Makanoré is close to being unhealthily underweight. He is in fact so light, that if it hadn’t been for his iron boots, any larger gust of wind beneath his wings would quite literally send him flying. This, combined with his silly-looking hunchback, makes it difficult not to notice his resemblance to a vulture with eating disorders.
Hair: None. He’s bald.
Eyes: They’re quite tiny, the color being a more orange-ish shade of the average Rito’s red.
Skin: Unseen, as it’s completely covered by thin, pale feathers.
Clothing: Makanoré wears a long, brown jacket, the ends of which reaching down below his knees. His left sleeve looks to be about ten centimeters too long, and one can only assume that his right was at some point, too. Now, however, his right sleeve ends before reaching his wrist, the cloth clearly charred from burning. Apart from this jacket, his only visible items of clothing are his large, iron boots and a beige scarf adorned with a simple, black pattern.
Other: Like all other members of the Rito tribe, he has a beak instead of a nose, this being about half as long as his either of his feet. His wings are decently sized, but rarely seen, as he tends to prefer moving about on the ground when he is not in a hurry. He also has a grotesque scar on the upper-left side of his hairless head, originating from a third-degree burn.
Personality:
Rarely easy going, Makanoré is hard to insult, but easy to anger. When he’s not provoked, he keeps to himself for the most part. That’s probably a good thing, as he also has a tendency to be quite rude. If you do get him to talk, though, there is more to be worried about than his short temper. Refusing to deal with certain things in his past, Makanoré has developed what you might call a “selective memory”, thus forcing him into making up alternative stories to cover up for whatever it is he wishes to forget. Quickly becoming very comfortable with the idea avoiding truth, Makanoré often finds himself lying for no sake other than the lie itself, and can therefore prove to be quite hard to communicate with.
There is, however, one thing he will always be truthful about; and that is his burning passion for stuff that burns, explodes or makes really loud noises. Should any of this turn out to be a common interest, your chances of being shouted at will decrease significantly, and the bald bird might even come off as excited or even (to some extent) friendly. This doesn’t happen very often, mind you.
Family:
Parents: Baldwin and Nelli Geier
- Both deceased by natural causes, when Makanoré was 22 and 26, respectively.
- Left Makanoré shortly after the death of their son.
- Whereabouts unknown.
- Burnt to death at the age of 14.
Magical Talents:
Makanoré has a brief understanding of fire magic. Through lots of reading and a fair bit of practice, he is capable of casting a few simple spells, as well as manipulate open flames for his own amusement.
Weapons and Talents:
Bombs. Though he more often than not prefers to stick to his magical tricks in battle, he is capable of flinging bombs at foes with a fair amount of accuracy, even while in midair.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Having a studious nature, Makanoré is well-read and definitely more intelligent than he looks. He’s also extremely selfish in certain ways, and regards this as an advantage because it enables him to sacrifice anything (or anyone) for the sake of his own survival, without second thoughts. His will to live completely overshadows any concern or feelings he might have for fellow living creatures. Though generally weak, he’s quite a persevering fellow, and fully capable of taking a blow.
His weaker sides include the fact that he can’t be trusted, that he usually is way too skeptical of others, that he willingly puts himself in danger by being close to fire and explosions, his unwillingness to face certain truths, and the fact that he’s horribly ugly. Especially that last one.
History:
[Will hopefully be up soon]
Spells:
Ignite (Fire elemental)
Creates a tiny flame within the caster’s hand, which can then be forced against the skin (or clothes) of an enemy. Painful upon contact.
Fireball (Fire elemental)
Creates a spherical mass of fire between the caster’s hands which, once released, flies off in whatever direction the caster is facing.
