Physical Description: Niamh is about 5' 5" and has long black hair with golden eyes that are sharp and piercing if she's on alert. Small in frame but she's a very delicate woman, perfectly porportioned. She's a radiant beauty with her ivory skin and dark black hair. Her lips are full and flirty and naturally a light red like the blush of a new rose.
Personality: Niamh is quiet and keeps to herself. She's a brilliant strategist but she's not often asked for her oppinion or intellect on matters. It is desired that she be poised and pretty at all times. Niamh is very observant. Skilled in the arts, Niamh is very talented in all matters courtly and becoming of a noble woman.
There is a certain burden that comes with being a Mistress. It is compounded by being the mistress to the King of Hyrule. Niamh struggles with this on a daily basis but she is very tough mentally.
Family: The Lorhean family is very wealthy. Niamh's father doesn't talk to her anymore due to her role at court. It was a choice forced on the family by her much more influential uncle. Her father doesn't like that he was unable to intervene.
Magical Talents: Her skills are small in the realm of magic. She mostly uses her skills to entertain the king with plays of colorful light and such small entertainments. She has some skills with weather and lightning.
Weapons and Talents: Niamh has achieved the elite status of Weapon in the martial arts she has trained in since a young age. Since she had shown some aptitude at a young
age and even more so after she had grown to be a pretty young woman, her family has seen
to her education in the martial arts. It was important that if she was close to the king
and shown his favor that she would be able to protect her king as well.
She specializes in bladeless weaponry and her bare hands. Niamh is an expert on pressure
points and the weaknesses of a body. She can use this knowledge to her advantage when pressed. Otherwise she can use her magic to generate charges from contact with her body.
Niamh is an excellent painter and harpist. She often plays for her King in gardens or in
chambers that they share. She also is a great dancer; very light on her feet.
Strengths and Weaknesses: Niamh is stealthy, though she was trained largely in defensive arts, not in spying. She's very confident in her movements and things everything in life is like a dance. She regards politics and political moves as an extension of this dance. She has a very keen mind and keeps tabs on things that would interest her king or her uncle.
Niamh is not overly strong. She utilizes various forms of martial arts that allow for a
smaller combatant to take control of a larger one through balance and redirection. She would lose to a larger opponent in a direct fight where brute strength is all that matters. However she would have to have been caught unawares which is hard to do. The flawless beauty is not afraid to get rough but blades are not something she likes to use. Her weapons are chosen to spare her the sight of blood when she slays if she were ever forced to.
History:
Niamh grew up at home near her uncle's estate. Her parents were not as well off as her uncle nor as influential as he at court. It was under his roof she was raised and when he returned from one of his lengthy visits to court, Uncle Stefan discovered that his niece was turning into a young woman. The girl he had largely gone to pains to ignore in his house was not suddenly a means by which he could gain standing. There was a short debate with the girl's parents by which he simpley stated his wishes for the girl and they were forced to aquiest or risk losing their home and source of provision. With Niamh's mother with child for the second time, they could not risk anything. So Niamh was given to her uncle to have trained so that her brother would then inherit her uncle's estate.
Niamh was kept ignorant of her planned purpose until a proper age. She was then formerly told her purpose and sent to court. The King took very little notice of her at first. She played at gatherings and painted scenes that would please him. It was her job to find what would entertain him and then keep his attention. Her uncle ensured that she was well displayed and shone to the best of her ability. It wasn't until she was 18 that the King took interest in her. His Queen had not provided him with an heir and he was restless. Niamh's true work began that summer.
Her situation at court became somewhat of a public secret. Friends abandoned her and took to whispering behind her back. Little barbs meant to hurt and sting. Her living quarters were changed by order of the King and she was greatful not to have to endure the constant looks from those who dwelt in the women's wing of the palace. In her seclusion there was some loneliness but Niamh was raised to spend her time in reflection and art. She learned to deal with it and the challenges of being the King's companion.
