Physical Description:

Reid is a somewhat shorter than average height, standing at 5’5, with a fair skin tone. A somewhat pretty face is at times held back by his personality. He’s very slim, notably not weighing very much at all. His hair is somewhat short, going just below where his head and neck meet, along with long bangs swept out of his eyes to the sides of his head. His hair is a dark green color, as is his eyes. He is dressed in an unusual outfit of teal, with a multi-layered sleeveless robe, cut open by the sides of the legs largely, a pair of black pants underneath. He wears a pair of black boots that match his pants with white leather belts that tighten them onto his leg to avoid slipping. In addition, he possesses a short jacket that matches his layered robe, with a hood to cover his head and extra-long sleeves that hide his hands, the sleeves ending in tassels.

Personality:

Reid’s personality changed greatly from his redemption through Emerald Flame. While originally brash and consistently angry, he has a more patient and curious outlook on life, taking things a bit more cautiously and carefully, thinking over the consequences that his actions might have over the greater whole, rather than the moment. He takes the magic he was granted very seriously, believing it his duty to protect the flame that gave him another chance at goodness, and to advance its purifying abilities to the level in which the magus himself used it to redeem Reid.

Family:
Six Siblings
Mother
Deceased Father
Magical Talents: 4k4 to Attack

Specialty: The Emerald Flame
Body of Emerald Flames: Reid focuses the Emerald Flames into his body, producing hand-to-hand attacks with a burning intensity; 5k4 Melee Attack.

All-Consuming Emerald Flame: With a snap of his fingers, the Emerald Flames erupt onto his target, slowly consuming them; DoT Effect

In addition, Reid is skilled in many utility spells, such as the creation of lights, floating, and other useful tricks. The Emerald Flame that burns within him acts as a fuel for his magical abilities.

Weapons and Talents:

Reid has a pair of normal fingerless gauntlets that he uses in the event that he can’t or somehow does not wish to use his magical abilities. In addition, he has a set of average under-armor that he possesses made of strong leathers and some bits of metal crafted on in specific places.

Strengths and Weaknesses:

Reid wants to redeem himself for his callous and evil actions that he committed in his past- regardless of the reasons that he may have committed them. As such, he has a strong sense of duty and responsibility not commonly known for one his age. However, this has left him quite intolerant of evil, wanting to oppose it when he can, and has a hard time turning a blind eye even when it would be convenient. In addition, he is physically weak, and has used his agility and now his magical capabilities to try and counteract this problem.

History:

”We all have our sins.”

It’s these words that crafted, destroyed, and reforged the life of Reid Heirin.

Reid Heirin has what one could call an unusual sequence of events in his short life. Born in Castle Town of the Kingdom of Hyrule, Reid had to suffer the responsibility of being the eldest of a seven siblings and a sickly mother. His life at first was one that could almost be envied, with a father that gave his family all they could possibly want, each child was a new blessing upon the family, for they had all the money to spare to dote upon each child, all the love one could possibly pass around.

But, as many an astute reader would guess, such happy tales are boring in the plays of the stars, dreadfully so. Reid learned this harsh, harsh lesson on the day that his sixth sibling was born into this world. While the father was expected to be home the day the child was born, it was that same day they learned of a horrible tragedy: Reid’s father had been attacked en route from his working location in Lon Lon Town by bandits, and he had, sadly, not survived the attack. As Reid attempted to anchor his life in that moment, he knew something deep down that dreaded him just as much- his mother was sick, and his family now without someone as noble as their father to support them.

It is at this point in his life that Reid began his slippery slope down the road to sin. In desperation, Reid had begun to act as the very beings that took away his family’s life, that of a bandit. He stole from others to support his family; all while ensuring himself that he did so with the greater good in mind, to help others, not because he was selfish. He assured himself of that every day, every attack, every performance of the villain that he pretended to be. One day, however, Reid made the wrong call. He chose the wrong victim.

On the surface, it just looked like your everyday old man, an elderly traveler who might have a few rupees on him that would be an easy victim that he would just scare a bit. As Reid began his performance of being a young brute, the old man did things that confused and angered the young man. He laughed. He made fun of him. He mocked everything Reid did, ridiculed his reasons, and even after getting quite the rise out of him went with the biggest insult that Reid could take after all the abuse: he continued on his journey, and ignored him. Reid, in a rage, attacked the old man- the old magus. With a wave of the hand, Reid was bombarded with horrible pain. Even as he struggled to recover, the old man was found standing over his wincing body. He said those words, those words that echo through Reid’s mind to this day.

“He…he… We all have our sins, boy.”

And as Reid cursed at him, raged, and tried to stand, the old magus pulled out a tiny green flame from thin air. Without a word more, he dropped the flame onto him, and in a moment, was engulfed in a purifying inferno. The pain could only be described as purifying. It’s at this point that Reid lost all sense of what was time, earth, up, down. Part of him knew he was going to die, part of him- no, the flame itself- told him what was happening: the flames were purifying the evil inside of him, and that evil was burning like a wildfire.

But the Goddesses have a plan for this fated young man, for our story does not end here, my friends. The boy awake to rain and thunder and lightning. He lied in the wet grass and mud as the sky crashed above him. He staggered to his feet, assuring himself that he’d just lied down for a nap in the warm sun and slept into a storm- he certainly hadn’t been lit aflame by emerald flames, no, of course not, certainly not. These delirious thoughts filled his mind as he staggered through the plains of Hyrule, unaware of where he wandered, staggering through the storm and darkness, vision blurry, mind plagued. Unaware that he staggered up a hill… across a bridge… and off a cliff into the Lake Hylia of the Kingdom. Crashing into the sloshing waves of the lake, sinking beneath them…

Now, if one has what is sometimes called the gift bestowed by the Goddesses themselves, Reid is certainly a man who has this mighty gift. As he sank beneath the waves, a being of the water saw fit to save this tortured soul from oblivion.

Reid awoke from his delirious state in the care of the people he least expected himself to be taken care of by- Zora. They treated him for his sudden and somewhat irrational dehydration, injuries, and near-drowning. While Reid attempted to get a grip on what was going on, he managed to ask who had saved him. It was at this time that Prince Appelar Zora V walked in the room to check on the young man whose life he had saved.

It was then that a friendship between Zora and Hylian was born.

Reid spent time in the domain of the Zora people, dealing with the changes that came over his body, mind, and soul, the alterations of his appearance, the birth of his magical capabilities. The Emerald Flame that purged forth the sin of his heart, which drives him even now with the fire of justice, to strive for further repentance for the evil that he committed.

Reid’s journey… has only just begun.

Mage Fate rolled. Free +1 to your Casting skill, effectively nulling out three of your points used to raise it to 4. I say this because you cannot have, under any circumstances, a character with any skill starting at 5.

Ok...all I can say is that you got really lucky with your points, as they check out evenly with none left over. Had you not rolled Mage Fate, you would have been four points over your allotted limit. But I'd like to point out where you did your math wrong. Look, for example, at your archetype-bonus skills. See, the first two points are completely free, but that doesn't mean you add points onto your skills starting with 1 again. No, you keep going up in the hierarchy of points. To raise a skill from 2 to 3, regardless of whether it's an archetype-bonus skill or not, costs 3 points, no matter how you look at it. Again, your points are perfectly spent, but I'm just pointing this out should you make another character in the future.

Also, I'm a bit confused. Both your Race and Nationality are listed as "Hyrulean." For Reid's Race, do you mean to put Hylian? And if that's the case, do you want me to switch your race?

EDIT: Also, I'll hold off on approving it for now because you said that Reid's history isn't finished. Just let me know when you're done.

Yes, I meant Hylian, my bad.

And please do, things change, and I at first just liked Zora enough to choose that as my display.

I'm terribly sorry, Reid, it appears I miscalculated your points. You're 1 point over. Fix this and you're all set for approval.
