A swamp in southwestern Hyrule, home to unique flora and insect life that can’t be found anywhere else in the country. It is home to many Lizalfos tribes, who tend to live nomadic lifestyles in the swamp and have little in the way of permanent settlements. The landscape consists of lush trees and boggy mires. To the north and west is East Hyrule Field. Far to the east, the mires become thick and treacherous and rumour has it that passage out of the eastern swamp is blocked by a nest of Gohmas, including an Armogohma queen. Travel in that direction is suicidal.
Blue Maiden is a settlement born out of necessity. During the war one of the evil king’s monsters, a giant slug named Derazoru, was used to guard the Water Temple. The giant slug oozes a venomous substance wherever it crawls, and nestled deep in the water source of the temple, its poison has polluted Lake Hylia and Zora’s Domain to the point where the Zora can no longer live there. Though Blue Maiden is a Zora settlement, a population of Lizalfos from the swamp tribes have settled there are well, ostensibly to keep a careful watch over the Zoras who have taken up residence in their homeland. Relations between the two races are tense, both due to taking opposing sides in the Great War and due to territorial disputes.
