Nearing the ruins of the old city, Alex stared out at crumbling structures and looming clouds in the distance. He guessed a storm was coming, but silently wondered if it always looked like this as a sign of some dark magic or terrible omen. But that was just overthinking it, wasn't it? Wasn't he just superstitious? He then wondered if it had been storming last time he was here and was absolutely certain it had been. That made it even more horrible and curious and the thought started worming its way back.

He shivered and pulled a hood over his head, randomly itching at his eyepatch. Truth be told, he hated wearing it, but it was a courtesy to everyone around him. Who wanted to see the horrific scar that hid just behind it? They were probably lucky they didn't have to gaze upon something so gross and awful looking and he sure was happy to be spared strange glances by passerbies and friends alike. Hard to have a good conversation and look someone in the eyes when they were staring at your face, theirs a mix of disgust and pity.

    "It was just... around here.."
he said absently, speaking out to distant thunder and a chilling wind. "There was a tunnel. Must have been part of the city. Some sort of stone buildings. Maybe shops? Who knows...." Whatever ruins they had been exploring may not have even been part of a city at all. Maybe it was just the outskirts. It was pretty far away from what was left of the castle anyway. That was probably the best thing anyway because, despite how much of a danger seeker and adventurer Alex was, he would not get within one hundred feet of that castle if someone paid him. Definitely not. Not while it was full of the remnants of pretty much the entire dark army anyway. He knew better than to try and tangle with them without an entire army of his own behind him.

He groaned, leg starting to throb more than usual. He ignored it for now. "I mean as far as ruins go... it's fascinating. Must have been a beautiful city before hoards of monsters trashed it..."

As the group neared the Harkinian Ruins, Ishii's mind traveled back some fifty years as he recalled the glorious Castle City that once stood where the ruins now reside. He vividly recalled the prosperity and abundance of people who called the city 'home', and yet here he stands in the remnants of the once great town. He shook his head, wondering where everything went wrong and how they ended up in such a future. The weather was uncanny. It felt like a storm was upon them, but something was 'off' about it. He couldn't quite put his finger on it though. Whatever the case was, he was just glad he wasn't alone on this venture into such a dark, evil place.

    "How can one tell, Blade?"
Ishii questioned, hearing him speak that the tunnel was near. "Everything here is bleak and miserable. Finding anything resembling where you were might be a feat upon itself." He commented. While he did not wish to dissuade the group, the reality of the situation was not something to be ignored. Surely, if one knew the area well they might have a better shot at understanding where they were, but he knew not the area well, even if it was like his memory recalled. "Truth be told, I remember what this city was like." He began,, once hearing Alex's comment. "Twas a grand view that took your breath away. It was a fine accomplishment of the Hylian race a spectacle of a once great kingdom. Now it's no more than a graveyard for what once was, and we are the survivors." He lamented, shaking his head as he stared at what may have been a shop. Whether they sold meat to the people or toys to children, the answer was buried to the world, and the only ones whom could say long gone.

"So, do you have any idea what our next step is?" His question was towards Blade, as he glanced around, making sure an attack wasn't just ready to strike.

  3. Conway learned quickly that they were headed for the Harkinian Ruins, the one place his mother had warned him not to go. He had become very hesitant then, but ultimately decided to stick with his companions, choosing to not let them down. He didn't tell anyone about this, though it would have been clear that something changed. Conway's normally quick and bright attitude hardened a bit, he became more twitchy and careful, always mulling over his mother's lessons and training hard daily. He knew that he needed to be ready for this. It had not been more than a few months since he left home after all. The storm that they arrived in only added to Conway's twitchiness, often glancing over his shoulder and pouncing at every sound.

"Well let's find the entrance quick," he looked around and quickly surveyed the area, "This space it too open, we could get swarmed by monsters too easily out here." He listened to Alex and Ishii's back and forth on the beauty that once was this city, "My Mother talked about it a few times, she would always focus on how it was before it was destroyed, but anytime I would ask what happened after she would change the subject or just avoid it in general," he took another good look at the crumbled and ruined city around him, "now i understand why."

Many of the surrounding buildings were nothing but dust and rock. He glanced back again. Something didn't feel right, more like nothing felt right. the lack of monsters thus far even with everything his mother told him about the place being crawling with them, the open space. The hairs on his neck stood as if they were a cactus' thorns. He rested his hand on his sword, "Hey, you guys keep looking around for that entrance. I'm going to watch our backs. I don't like the feel of this area."

Nemorac's eyes looked at the ruins as the approached, his mind racing at the look of everything. He'd heard of the ruins, and even read about the events leading up to the grand city's demise, but he honestly had never thought he'd be coming to such a place. He pushed his glasses up a bit on his nose, shivering a little. He didn't like the look of the looming clouds, and he had a feeling that he wasn't alone in such feelings. His mind raced a little, and again he started his habit of mumbling to himself. "Controlling the elements means being in control.....channel the energies......find your center..."

He snapped to attention a bit at the others speaking, trying to focus on the conversation to calm down. "Hopefully we can find something at least. I just hope we don't become lost ourselves." He looked over at Conway, noticing the change in demeanor. That did not help the young Hylian relax. To see the Sheikah go from how he had initially presented himself to seemingly a bit skittish unnerved him. Surely one who had been trained as much as he had would have a bit more mental fortitude for this sort of thing? Still, the offer to watch their backs was welcoming.

"Is there anything in particular we're looking for? It would help to know so we can aid your search." Nemorac asked as he scanned the area. He certainly felt unnerved in this place, and if it weren't for him being determined to help Blade out, he surely would have turned tail and ran far, far away from this place.

Just trying to imagine how beautiful this city once was, Alex felt just a soft stab of sadness through him/ How tragic that it had been reduced to this trash, maybe never to rise again into anything more than a lair of monsters. He was incredibly envious of Ishii for having now what it was like back in its prime. Alex knew nothing of it, and he barely knew anything of the war either for that matter. Having been born towards its end, just as life was to start picking up the pieces again, all he knew of the world was the ruin and aftermath. Bleak and dreary, he wished he could have been around to see the beauty of it. If he had been able to, maybe his life would have turned out differently. Maybe he wouldn't have become such a thrill seeker and death dodger. Maybe he would have tried harder...

"If I close my eyes, I can let my imagination show me what this place might have looked like,"
he answered through a smirk, "I can envision it in my own way, see the bustling people and the shops, the trees, the fountains, the colors." He shrugged his shoulders, "But then you open your eyes and the dream is gone and it's back to this... wasteland. Maybe one day the people will rebuild and I'll be around to see it." But he somehow doubted it...

No signs of danger just yet, Alex gave his own survey, a brief sensory check for any strange sight or sounds that were not the coming storm or the party daring to venture further in. He racked his memory for any obvious markers that he might have seen last time he was here. Mentally, he could pick out a few structures and pointed out one such building. "There," he said, finger pointed towards a ruined tower of some kind. Goddesses and ghosts only knew what it once was whether a bell tower or guard tower or possibly just the last remaining piece of a larger building. "I remember that place. Nearby there was a tunnel that went down." He supposed it led down to some sewer system that was built beneath the city or maybe secret tunnels from some more ominous purpose.

"We went down there to avoid being out in the open, to avoid being spotted easily. Parts were collapsed, but there was enough left in decent shape for travel. The fallen star we were tracking.. it's further in, but it didn't land quite at the castle."
Had it been anywhere near the epicenter of these monsters and their most dastardly members, he would never have agreed to come int he first place. He may have been crazy sometimes, but never that crazy.

Making his way towards the tower, a howl sounded out in the distance, piercing the air. Spooky as it was, the bounty hunter barely slowed. "Wolfos do you think?" he did ask. He didn't know any to be around here, but he also didn't know Stals to howl like wolves.

It seemed between the foursome, only Blade and himself seemed to be less fearful of such a dark, foreboding city ruins. Between what they had seen, that might be enough. Having two somewhat sheltered but learned men with them at least balanced things out. He just hope they had the gall to not wet themselves if things went South. Conway's comment about being swarmed by enemies rang true. "An ambush should never be counted out, this is true." He admitted, his eyes scanning the area for any movement. "I am ready for a fight, though. We can handle a few Stalfos in this bone zone. Keep an eye behind us, Conway. Never knew who might have scouted and followed us here." Paying special attention to his side he knew they at least had eyes on most of area.

Beside him, Nemorac seemed less sure of himself, mumbling more to himself before speaking a fearful undertones. "So long as we keep note of anything resembling an interesting location or notable landmark, we can make our ways out of this place, kiddo." He said to the bespectacled Hylian. Turning to Blade, he couldn't help but sigh. "Your imagination might paint a picture of what this place was like, but to see it yourself and see it as it is now makes one sad about what we have lost these past few decades. Places like Kasuto and Rauru are only a fraction of what this city once was. We will all be old and gray before this city starts to make its way back to its old glory." There was sadness in his voice. Matanzas wanted to see the world as it once was, as well as his newfound friends to see what he had seen, but he knew that unless something changed, that was only a pipe dream.

Stopping as Alex pointed toward a ruined building. "A tunnel?" He mused, rubbing his rough chin. "Whether it were sewers or a way to escape in case of a siege, let us get to it." He briefly hoped that there was enough head space for someone of his stature to move comfortably, but before he could ask Blade, the howl that pierced the deathly silent environment startled the group. "Wolfos? Perhaps. May be a pack of them." Ishii said matter-of-fact. "Unless you want to deal with a Wolfos pack, I suggest we get to these tunnels quite quickly." Ishii said, beginning to pick up the pace. If they caught their scent, they could be surrounded within minutes.

  7. Conway noticed that him being on edge was startling Nemorac. "Hey calm down," he knew he sounded hypocritical but he continued anyway, "Trust in us, in the team. We've got each others backs. If we get into a fight Just stay calm and remember what I told you, stick to fire magic and focus it into single concentrated blasts." This also sort of helped Conway cope as well. This was still the one place that his mother had warned him not to go, but with all of them and Alex, who had traveled here before, he felt slightly more confident that this mission would go well.

As if the Goddesses were trying to spite him, just as he thought those thoughts, a wolfo howled in the distance. Conway immediately jumped on guard again, drawing his sword and readied himself for combat. "Just one howl?" he turned to the others, "It's only one of the scouts, but it has picked up our scent and is calling for help. We need to move. Now!" As they all started moving to the opening, conway hung back a few paces to keep the rear safe. He glanced over his shoulder and spotted a pair of red eyes just peaking out from behind a pillar. He stopped and sent a bolt of flame flying towards it at a blistering speed, but the distance it had to travel gave the scout time to duck back and the bolt exploded on the pillar.

He turned and jumped forward using his wind magic to boost him and make up the distance. Conway shouted up to the group, "Get in the tunnel, it will be a lot easier to fight them in there, and when they see how hard it will be to kill us, they'll back off!" That was the way they hunted after all. Surround and cut off the weakest link. "And stay together!"

Nemorac couldn't help but arch an eyebrow at Conway when he mentioned using exclusively fire magic. "I can use other types...ice magic to immobilize is also a valid strategy." For some reason, being told how to do the one thing he had been studying his whole life had caused him to drop some of the fear that had been building up. He was still tense, but not mumblingly so. Hearing the lone Wolfos howl over, made the hairs on the back of his neck immediately stand on edge.

"I only hope we aren't being herded into their territory, tunnel or no!" Regardless of his worries, he ran with the rest of the group, barely keeping pace with his Goron compatriot, and quickly being caught up with by the Shiekah once wind magic was used to bolster the young man's speed. The young Hylian's heart was beating in his chest, far faster than anything he'd felt before. The closest it had gotten was when he had messed up performing a more complex spell his teacher had him try, which lead to a magical surge that, as his master told him later, could have ended his life had the old man not been there to help guide him through containing it.

He kept running, his eyes focusing on the tunnel ahead of them. If they could simply reach that, their chances of surviving would rise. At the very least they couldn't be surrounded by Wolfos easily. He tried to calm himself, just thinking about things one step at a time. Get to the tunnel, then worry about what comes next. Don't think too far ahead.

It was so depressing to Alex that he figured he would never truly be able to see anything greater than the barely even a city of Kasuto and the goddess lovers of Rauru. Every second he spent in Rauru, he always felt like an outsider being harshly judged with too many displeased eyes that he was not like them. Friendly as it was, he couldn't help but be uneasy. Though, he'd never be as uneasy as he was here with strangers whose skills he had yet to see for himself, creepy and doom-ridden ruins ahead, ominous howling in the background somewhere around them.

Just their luck they had entered these lands only to be immediately discovered by the owner of that eerie howl. he wished he was wrong about the Wolfos, but unfortunately his luck was just as terrible as ever. Alex bit his lip, eye making for the tunnels he'd directed them to. "If we get caught here and eaten, it would sure make a pathetic and abrupt end to our journey. I, for one, was hoping to go out with a little more glory than this and survive at least a little bit longer." Like a few years or decades. That much longer.

Hurrying as fast as he could towards the tunnel, Alex cursed himself. "This just friggin sucks," he muttered as he limped along at his not so super quick pace. Conway was behind somewhere, buying them time. He swore he saw eyes, the Wolfos being closer than he hoped it was. "I hope the tunnels are empty...! If they aren't.." He yanked free a beautifully curved sword from his belt with his good hand, a sword so precious it was in better shape than he was. "If there's a surprise down there waiting for us.. I'll be ready to hack us a path! Let me go first and check it out."

Reaching the tower, there was a ladder inside, aged but still mostly intact. Sword in his teeth, he descended as quick as he could until he was left in darkness. A torch he did not think of. He took a step forward and squinted into the dark, but it was impossible to tell if there was anything down here. "...Hello?" he called softly. Hopefully no one was being eaten by a pack of Wolfos above while he shuffled along below looking for life. Reasonably satisfied, he shouted up ahead, imploring everyone to hurry along if they were able. If not, he supposed he was prepared to go up after them.

Following along with the rest of the group, Ishii stopped in his tracks when he heard an explosion from behind. Turning to see Conway had a spell of some sort to a Wolfos, the Goron's gazed hardened, his hand reaching behind him. Pulling out his warhammer, he turned toward Nemorac. "Stay with Blade and get to the tunnels. You'll be safer in there than out here." He ordered to the young Hylian. He started to walk toward Conway, but his quick jump toward them stopped him in his path. As he took a stop beside him. Ishii was impressed by the skill, but had no time to respond.

The Wolfos was circling Conway and himself, looking ready for a good meal. "Come on, mutt. You want a piece of me? Come take a bite!" He said, inciting the beast to attack. Seemingly the Wolfos responded in kind, leaping in the air ready to pounce on a fresh meal. With an experienced hand and guided by a firm swing, the Wolfos was stopped in his tracked with a crushing blow to its skull, a terrible crunching noise piercing the otherwise eerie silence. Blood, bits, or bone, and pink ooze was all that was left of it's cranium.

Glancing back at Conway, he merely held his warhammer in his right hand and nodded to the tunnel. "Let's make a run for it before the rest of the pack come sniffing around." Matanzas took a few quick steps to where Nemorac and Blade disappeared, hoping Conway was following suit behind him.

  11. Conway wiped the Blood and brain matter, from Ishii's strike, off his face. He stood there for a moment in awe of the power of Ishii's hammer, and imagined what would have happened if that were him at the reviving end. Never piss off a Goron, got it. He was snapped out of this as another howl rang over the bulge that they stood in. Then another and two more! The main force had arrived.

"Let's make a run for it before the rest of the pack come sniffing around."

"It's a little to late for the pack... but ya lets keep the run for it part." He scanned the top as they ran. Alex and Nemorac had already mad it into the tunnel and he and Ishii were halfway there. It was then that the hoard of wolfos cam pouring in from the hills. Thirty? Forty? No... more, and they were closing in quickly, too quickly. If it were just Conway and Nemorac or Alex, he could boost the two of them to the entrance, but he was not sure if he could summon the wind to boost someone as large as Ishii. He looked back at the Wolfos, nor could they out run them. Conway smirked slightly as he spun facing the hoard as Ishii kept running. "Don't worry, keep going!" he shouted back to Ishii, "I specialize in being out numbered."

With that he flew forward augmented by a strong gust. With blistering speed he charged towards the wolfos, neither showed any intention of stopping. As the came close, Conway flourished his blade and prepared,

"When facing a charge, always try disrupt the fist line. If you do the rest will be easier to crash through," the words of wisdom from his mother's training absorbed his mind as he acted. He sliced his blade, creating a thin but powerful wave of wind, cutting down four wolfos immediately in front of him.

As the next few Wolfos jumped over their fallen, they were confused when they did not find their target. "Keep low, it increases your power and reduces you profile," They did not notice the figure hunched down under them until their heads were already separated form their body. This sudden attack stunned the next wave, but for no longer than a fairy's wing-beat. This was all the time he needed, as he dispatched them each with one precise blow. The wolfos began to wrap around the sides to surround him.

"Be aware of every enemy and ally around you and react accordingly," Three to the front, two on the left, four on the right and behind, no allies. "and if you have no allies, make some of your own..." a wolfos pounced for Conway's spine, but instead of the flesh and bone that it had expected to find, it was blown away by a wall of wind. It persisted covering his back from the wolfos' attacks.

Block. Strike. Strike. Parry. Strike. Turn. Strike. As graceful as a butterfly Conway maneuvered through the hoard cutting and slashing. He looked up to see Ishii almost at the entrance. "Never stay longer than you need to" Conway reared back, then sent a pillar of flame out towards the entrance, creating a runway for him in the hoard. He sprinted down this path, devoting every ounce of magic into bolstering his speed. He reached the end of the runway and leaped, flying towards the entrance. Landing just in front of Ishii, with but a few scratches. He turned and started running backwards towards Alex and Nemorac. "Keep up slowpoke," he said already forgetting his reminder to not make a Goron mad.

Nemorac nodded to Ishii when he had been ordered to stay with Blade. He knew he could be of some help, but at the same time he also knew best not to question the orders of those with far more experience than himself. Pushing himself harder, he ran towards the tunnel entrance. Bolting into the tower, he noticed the entrance Alex had used not long before him. However, the older man had already managed to get down enough where he couldn't see where he was. Mentally cursing his slowness, he descended the ladder.

As he descended, he heard Alex call for them to come down. Breathing a small sigh of relief, he hurried his descent. That, however was a mistake. About halfway down, the young mage's foot slipped, causing him to lose balance. He first slipped backwards, but his grip was at least firm enough to keep him from falling completely off. He instinctively pulled back to the ladder, but he did so a bit too fast, his forehead smacking against one of the rungs. That caused his consciousness to slip just long enough for the young man to lose his grip and fall fully, descending the rest of the way back-first into the darkness below.

Down in the apparent safety of the tunnels, Alex couldn't see a damned thing that was going on back up on the surface world. He stood in the darkness, listening to shouts and snarls and the clashing of man and beast. His imagination could fill in the gaps and he was picturing some sort of glorious fight for survival up there. A smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, single visible eye grown wide and bright. The thrill seeker part of the engineer was showing himself, Blade the bounty hunter wishing he was up there with them.

Still, a part of him was worried. If anyone were to die out there, it'd be his fault. He brought them along with glorified words of adventure and treasure and if they all ended up dying... he at least prayed he'd go with them and wouldn't have to live with the guilt of being the only survivor again.

Among the fighting outside, a shape appeared in the entrance and someone had begun a descent into the tunnels after him. Squinting his eye in the dark, he could make out the shape of the mage student or scholar or whatever he had claimed to be that Alex could not quite put his finger on the correct word for it. Thank goodness at least one of the three was officially okay there. As long as he could protect even just one person, he'd feel far better about himself and this dangerous situation.

He winced, seeing the man slip on the ladder. "Are you alright?" he called, having just barely only enough time to ask as Nemorac slipped again and fell this time. Moving as fast as he could, Alex rushed back to the ladder, arms out in an attempt to catch the man on his way down. He wasn't exactly the ideal savior with one arm that might as well be useless for things like this, but at the very least, landing on a nice cushy Hylian would be better than hitting the cold stone floor and breaking your neck.

"Hey, wai-!" Was all Ishii got out before Conway magicked himself toward the incoming pack of Wolfos. How he walked upright with the massive pair between his legs, he could not say, but the kid did have guts. Looking back to where Nemorac and Blade disappeared, the massive Goron moved as quick as he could to the entrance, daring not to look behind him to see the damage Conway was causing, or the damage the Wolfos were causing him.

Just before he made it to the entrance, Conway suddenly appeared in front of him, with hardly a scratch on him. "Don't get cocky, kid." Ishii roared as he followed Conway, only now looking back to see the destruction he caused. He was surprised by the amount of Wolfos' slain in such a short amount of time - along with the remaining Wolfos on his tail. Conway was quick to get down the ladder, but Ishii stopped himself short as he heard a very close howl. Turning quickly, Matanzas swung his hammer hard, crushing the ribs of the lunging Wolfos inches behind him.

Running inside the tower, the Goron looked for any sort of barricade, finding only a mostly decayed door as their only protection. Slamming it shut, Ishii sighed in the brief moment of relief he had, though knew it wouldn't last long. "Looks like everyone's already descended.." He grumbled, checking out the hole downward. It was small, and as he soon found he had issues squeezing down the hole. "Ugh, this was clearly not made for someone of size." He grumbled, quickly squeezing himself into the safety of what was below. He just hoped that the Wolfos didn't stick around waiting for a counterattack when they were leaving - or they found a different way out.

  15. "I'm not cocky i'm... just... very confident," He said to Ishii as he turned to see the chaos that Conway had just caused,he smiled, proud of his work "You see we're fine," he said with a laugh. It just dawned on him, he wasn't on edge anymore, he felt... free, and It felt good.

Conway, clearly much faster than Ishii, arrived at the entrance long before Ishii. As he dove through the door he turned and gave Ishii a few firebolts of covering fire as he reached the entrance. "See you at the bottom," and with that ha hopped down the hole. He quickly found out that the bottom was blocked but the collapsed bodies of Alex and Nemorac. he wasted a few precious moments stampering before he realized, wind magic, ladder, FAST!!! He fired a blast of wind downward to slow his fall as to give him the time to grab one of the rungs on the ladder.

This was not to be as the old rustic ladder broke. The second one held, but the strain hurt his arms. he let out a little whimper as he hung there. Next time, let's not try to be cool jumping down the ladder when I can't see the bottom. He got a footing and steadied himself. then he looked back down as Alex and Nemorac. "Hey, you guys all right down there?" No answer. "Nemorac? Alex?" silence. Conway stood there in shock as the silence persisted. His mind began to race, but then, it stopped, as he heard the grunt of Alex below him. Conway breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, "An epic battle I assume?" he said cheekily.

Nemorac's mind raced some as he fell. The young Hylian's mouth opens up, and instead of yelling or panicking, seemed to react in an almost practiced manner. "Power of wind, aid me now!" His hands glowed a light green as he thrusts them up above him. The air below him coalesces, pushing upwards on him. While not enough to fully stop his descent, it slows him enough to reach out and grab onto the ladder once more. He slams into it, grunting but keeping himself conscious, panting a little at the effort and the wind getting knocked out of him.

He looked down at Alex, who was just below him, only a few more rungs down. If he hadn't used his magic, he surely would have collapsed onto the older man below. "S-sorry about that...I'm fine..." He composes himself and moves down the ladder, coming off of it next to Alex. He let out a sigh of relief as he looks up, trying to see if the others were on their way down. He adjusts his glasses again, squinting up. "I think they're on their way down..."

Amazingly, the mage saved himself with a dazzling display of wind magic to slow him enough to stop his fall without serious injury. The bounty hunter sighed in relief yet kept his good arm out and ready for support until the other had safely joined him on the tunnel floor. He patted the man's shoulder and warned ever so gently, "I'm glad you're alright. A fall like that could do worse than a Wolfos bite." Depending of course and how you land and where that bite is.

Staring up the ladder towards the others, he called up, "Sounds like the battle went well. Epic indeed. Are you both still alive? We're alright down here. A few bumps and bruises at most. I hope all your limbs are still intact!" He pointed an arm down the darkness of the sewer tunnel, "It's not much farther now. Just ahead, I think is where it collapsed and it's gotta be around there where the star fell." He squinted into the shadows, scanning for any movement that might be a danger, but also trying to get his eye to adjust enough that he could make out shapes and the way forward.

For the moment, he would wait for everyone to descend and collect themselves and then he would lead the march on and ahead. It never occurred to him once that anyone might be perturbed or put off by the scrape with death they'd just had and might want to turn around and go back before worse things could happen. He didn't think to ask, honestly. He himself was in this until the end, be it failure or glory and a shining fallen celestial body. He did have a question to ask and few things to add, however, because he very much valued the welfare of his team.

"Is anyone hurt? I'm afraid I don't have any sort of healing magic, but I'm a wiz at splints and bandages. I've had to design and craft them for myself countless times and it's something I've gotten good at."

Taking a short pause from descending until he was certain Conway was safely out of the way, Ishii decided to step down the rusty old ladder. It felt like it was doing everything it could to remain intact as he climbed his way towards his comrades. Finding ground underneath his foot suddenly was nice, but his knee wasn't quite as happy. "Ugh, sudden landing." He grumbled. After he stepped off the ladder, he stretched his leg for a second or two as it started to hurt less. "I was hoping we'd have more time to strategize before a sudden entry, but at least we're safe. Ish." He added a second later while removing his pack from his back.

Setting it down on the ground, he began to sift through the pack "Yeah, Conway made short work of a number of 'em." He said, before adding a moment later, "Even beat me in here... You youngsters have no patience." Matanzas said with a hint of a playful tone in his voice. "I am glad everyone's alright and all, but what we need is a bit of a light down here. That, and a plan. Good thing I came with one prepared." He said while feeling around in his bag for his source of light. After some grumbling and fumbling around, Ishii struck gold and pulled a small, simple blue lantern out. "Here we go." He said triumphantly, and pulled a small piece of metal out of it. Striking against rocky back, Ishii lit the lantern after several tries, giving the group some much needed light down below. "There we go, now we can see better down here."

Zipping his bag back up, he put the pack back behind him, then leaned down to pick the lantern off the ground. The walked over to Blade. "So, you said we are going down that way in the sewer tunnels?" He gestured towards the way Blade pointed. "Sounds good. What is in store for us down here? What's the plan once we get star?" He asked Blade, curious about any other possible monsters that have made their homes in the sewers. "I mean, our only exit point so far is crawling with Wolfos. Do you know another way out or of another exit? We might need to find out while we are down here." He suggested.

  19. Conway was about to offer his own fire to light the lantern, but Ishii got it lit before he could. The light from the lantern gave light of the next 50 feet or so, and in that distance there was no deviation in the path ahead of them. "Well looks like our path is clear, can't go up and only one way to go. Lets move."

With is sword still drawn Conway began down the path, moving quickly but quietly. He reached the of the light emitted by the lantern, turning back he called to the rest of the group, "Hey what's taking so long? What's the point of making a plan if we don't even know what's ahead?" Conway continued to move forward up another 100 feet or so. Conway became projected his flame down the hall in an attempt to see further ahead. All it did was uncover a horrifying sight.

What might have been a family of Hylians at one point, a pile of bones lay in front of him. All muscle and cartilage had all rotted away leaving only a fragile material that at one point had been their skin stretched over the bone. In the clutches of of one of them was a smaller figure, that of a child who had been left helpless after the arrow protruding from her guardian's skull had killed them. Another figure leaning against the wall with no head. Conway looked to see a bone fragment embedded in the wall and several more scattered on the ground, where his head was smashed against the wall until it had shattered. Nearby was a different corpse with the remains of scales, a sharp elongated mouth and a tail. The cause of death revealed by numerous arrows that lay on the floor beside him, dislodged when his flesh rotted. Beside him lay another pile of bones, many twisted and broken in ways that were likely meant to cause the most pain. Spider webs covered all of the remains like a thick blanket.

Conway's mind stopped, unsure how to comprehend the scene that now lay before him. For a brief moment, fear overtook him, then as he regained control a sick feeling began to set into his stomach. What horrified him more was that there was no smell. The bodies were so rotted and had been here so like that even the stench of death had left these bodies. Tears began to well in Conway's eyes as all he could do was stare at the scene that was laid out before him.

Nemorac watched as the rest of the group made their way down the ladder. Looking over at Alex, he shook his head. "No major injuries...just a bit winded is all. Heh, winded." The young hylian couldn't help but joke a bit. He at once was happy and not that he was able to react so well to that situation. Such a reaction had only been able to come about because his teacher had put him in a similar situation before. Luckily, and although his teacher would not admit it, Nemorac had noticed once they had headed back to his teacher's house that he had placed a few preparatory spells to ensure his pupil would not die.

"In all honesty though, I certainly hope we don't run into anything immediately. I will need a bit of time to recover from that expenditure, as I wasn't able to properly manifest the magic in a way that wouldn't leave me drained."
He smiles at them as reassuringly as he could. "Don't worry though, I can still walk fine." He motions towards the rest of the cave. "Shall we go?"

Peering down into the cave, he began walking with the rest of the group. Looking around, he saw the various signs of what had occurred before. Where some might see tragedy, and indeed he saw it as well, he saw a point in time, somehow preserved in its own way. Seeing Conway's reaction be much more emotional, he reached out and places a hand on his new comrade's shoulder. "Take solace in the fact that they have already been mourned. I am certain of this."
