Having knocked down his quarry, Tiketh seemed quite pleased. Kicking the creature's corpse for good measure, he snorted. Dead things were best off staying dead. If only Take had been able to understand and agree with that logic. These zombified whatever they were should never have been wandering the halls and Take should never have attached itself to a person. He was a bitter spirit that was far better off if only he had figured out how to properly pass on instead of sharing his torment with others.

There was only one of them left from what he could tell. Teeth bared, the Hylian raised his scythe, plunging the blade deep into the being's chest, twisting and ripping back out. Taking a short pause, breathing hard, he leaned over to give the monster a look see, watching for any movement. "Are they gone?" he asked, "Is it dead?" Though, was that a good question to ask as they already were sort of... dead, weren't they?

Calming down reasonably, his shadowy magic subsided, melting off into a soft vapor, gently wafting from his fingertips.

(Sorry it took over a week to post this)

Cyrui walked over to the downed ReDead. “Do not worry, I am an expert in undead monsters.” Cyrui stared at the ReDead and began erm-ing and umm-ing, nodding and shaking his head. “Right I have come to my conclusion!” Without pausing, he rammed his spear into the ReDead’s skull. “It is dead.” He said with a deadpan voice. He turned to Tiketh. “I know I should congratulate us on a job well done or discuss why those things attacked us, but I think there is a more important question that must be answered.” Cyrui sheathed his weapons before kneeling next to Tiketh. “What was that dark stuff that was running through your hands? That feral form you took to rip apart those ReDeads? I am not angry,” Cyrui removed his helmet and set it on the floor next to him. His right eye socket had a scar, as if something crashed into it. In the darkness, his eyes glowed dark burgundy, partially illuminating his skull. “I just want to know the truth.”

Alana sank to the floor panting as the adrenaline faded from her veins. She felt sore, rubbing her shoulder, knowing that a bruise would probably start forming there from her fall. Her heart was still racing and her face felt flushed, but at least the danger was over. For now. But it didn't help that Cyrui was now questioning Tiketh.

To be fair, Alana wasn't paying too much attention to Tiketh that fight. She kept him in the corner of her eye, but only enough to know if something was going wrong with him. The dark stuff and the feral form that Cyrui was talking about? Alana didn't see a single glimpse of it. It didn't help that the only source of light was a flickering torch in Tiketh's hands - just barely enough for her to even see her own hands in front of her. Cyrui though, with his night vision or whatever, probably saw much better.

That being said, what did he mean by feral form?

She looked over at Tiketh. "Is it not just magic?" He mentioned dark magic before. That was just simply dark magic right?

Tiketh waited patiently while his companion checked the Redead to make sure it was dead... again. It appeared it was, but then wasn't it technically dead before? How did someone properly make such a thing certain unless they were going to dismember the bodies so they couldn't possibly hurt anything if they did decide to rise again. He wondered then if he should stop worrying and just accept it and hope for the best. There was something more important anyway.

Shoving his hands into pockets, he wondered how much he needed to say. "My magic," he started, "Is not exactly... completely stable?" Not totally a lie. "It comes from darkness and it's sometimes dangerous. That's why I don't use it often. It didn't... It wasn't always like this though. I was never very good at magic. I can be good at a lot of things, but magic was never really one of those things."

This part was going to be a little hard to say. He took a breath and began anyway, saying it as best as he could. "But that's beside the point. See, I encountered a spirit once in a ruin a few years ago. It attached itself to me and followed me around." He was banking on the hope that maybe the Stalfos companion might understand, being in a similar situation. Though... in truth, it wasn't so similar, was it? "The spirit spoke to me, told me things, taught me how to use this magic better by.. well by using it itself. I mean, we coexisted as best we could, but it was still a dangerous spirit, so I enlisted the help of an exorcist and some friends to remove it."

He still didn't know if it was been entirely successful. He was very sure it had not worked in the slightest. "I don't hear it speaking anymore, but I think a part of it is still with me, like I can still feel its power."

Cyrui sighed. “Just because you cannot hear a spirit’s voice, does not mean it is not there.” He pulled out his watch. “Spirits have other ways of communicating, be it via visions, happenings, or even written words.” He jingled the watch. “I understand that part.” He let go of the watch and let it fall back to his waist.

Cyrui tapped his scarred eye socket. “You know how I got this scar? Sword through the eye. It should have killed me, and maybe I would have died of that wound but adrenaline is one hell of a thing. I was unphased by my new found blindness in my right eye, I continued fighting.” He pointed to the broken lower half of his chest piece. “Then a hammer slammed into my stomach. That killed me. Unfortunately, that is not where my story ends. Somehow, I reanimated. Be it dark magic, a spirit cursing me, or even the Goddesses giving me a second chance, I was ‘alive’ once more. So I understand your curse and the pain it brings you.”

“However,” Cyrui glared, “When I tried to return to a normal life, one similar to the one I had when I was a young boy, I was deemed a monster. People hated me, despite the armor I wore. I was a fiend, an agent of darkness, the boogeyman. So I avoided civilization and tried to help a different way. Now, You may wonder why I bring any of this up.” He raised two of his fingers. “Because your story fails to answer two key questions. One, where are your friends now. Two, how did you get that wound on your leg.”

A spirit he said? Alana mused silently as she watched Tiketh explain himself. Even though she would have like to consider them acquaintances, Alana also hadn't originally planned to stick around with him on such a journey when they had first met. This spirit brought out... complications. Certainly there was more to the story than he was letting out if he took so long to even inform them of the spirit. There were questions that she wanted to ask, and answers that she wanted to know, but Alana decided that it would be better if she just simply stayed silent.

If Cyrui wanted to be the offending party he could do what he wanted, but Alana's only job was to make sure Tiketh's leg healed and then move on her way. Until that happened was her responsibility to keep him safe. Of course that was if he didn't become a safety hazard himself.

    Who knew how spirits worked.

Alana leaned up against the chair and watched on.

Tiketh nodded, understanding that better than anyone. "I've never hurt anyone," he confirmed, "Not intentionally. I've never been so... not myself.." Sure, Take had assumed control a few times, but Tiketh had always been there in the background. They'd worked together, they'd talked, they even might have shared the same interest once or twice. As much as Take talked about one day taking over his body fully... it had never happened. "No one trusts me," he finished aloud, not yet ready to voice all those thoughts.

"As I tried to get this spirit exorcised, I think.. I think it failed. At least my friends assumed it had. I was attacked after we made our way back to Rauru. My friend she... she seemed to believe I was evil and needed to be destroyed... and she came after me. I didn't want to hurt her, so I ran, but I was wounded." He looked to Alana, a sympathetic look on his face. "That was right before you found me."

He sighed, shoulders slumping. "This friend of mine.. she works for the Order so I'm almost certain they've been told about me. They'll probably be after me now." Rauru was the closest place he had to home. Now he could never go back there again and he'd have to be careful anywhere else he went as well.

"Now I tell you this, but I'm insisting I'm not going to hurt either of you."
Possessed or not, he still had control of himself and his feelings.

Cyrui looked at Tiketh with a comforting gaze. “Yeah, the Order is full of zealous men and women. They usually mean well, but beings like us,” he waved is index finger back and forth between himself and Tiketh, “are attacked often. We are a ‘danger’ to settlements. I mean, almost everyone is like that, exact Dragmir. Those freaks take any bloodthirsty beast and give it a sword then send on a raiding party. But we do not have to be like the Dragmirans. We do not have to be monsters. The Old Hyrulean Army hates beings like me, but I still recover artifacts from Hyrule’s past. Why? Because I am a ‘monster.’ No one is going to morn my loss. Plus I am undead.” Cyrui paused, realizing the speech was more of a ramble. “What I am trying to say is that I understand you. You may be an outcast due to your curse, but so am I.” He ruffled Tiketh’s hair as he had no idea how to end the conversation.

The tension in the air seemed to dissipate slowly as Tiketh explained his story and the events that followed up to Alana running into him. Whether he was telling the truth or not, only time could tell, but for now Alana found it satisfactory. If Tiketh was truly a wanted man for a crime, that would be a problem she could deal with another time. If anything conflict would be the last thing they wanted here in the middle of a dark crypt, and Alana was glad that things turned out the way they did.

"Well," She cleared her throat, "Not to interrupt or anything, but we've been down here for a good while, I say it would probably be a good idea to call it quits for the day and come back tomorrow." She stretched her arms. "Plus we should probably take a look at that wound Tiketh after that fight. Don't want it to become infected again or something."

She shrugged. "Though if you guys really want to keep exploring, I can't stop you."

"They hate... what they don't understand," Tiketh replied, giving a shake of his head. He didn't think he was evil. He had never done anything remotely evil. All he had done was try to survive, as had many remnants of the war just the same. They weren't so different after all. They were different. They were strange, sometimes scary or potentially dangerous. But wasn't that the same of any human or zora or goron? Anyone could be dangerous if they were pushed hard enough. Why did some get free passes while others were hunted down?

It was just another reason for him to dislike the Order. He tolerated and accepted it for his friend Zimo's sake. Then she turned on him like he was nothing.

He smiled though as both here seemed to at least accept him for the time being. There was no way of knowing if they might take the same path and turn on him in the same way, but he was okay for now.

    "You're right,"
he said then, "We should get out of here soon. The air is stale and thick." It was hard for him to breathe down here. His head was still pounding, limbs tired and aching. "There's no reason we can't rest and start again some other time." This place wasn't going anywhere any time soon.
