Tane had to wonder if it was normal attitude for this boy to just run off and talk to every stranger he had met. Tane did not have children, nor did he spend much time with them, but he recalled a time back in his youth where all the adults discouraged against such things and used words like 'Talking to strangers is bad' and 'Don't accept food given to you by strange people'. It was not his place to bring up such schooling though. Maybe they learned differently these days, or, alternatively, maybe it was just Zeid's nature to be so polite and welcoming. Apparent child of royalty, maybe it was bred into his being to be greeting the people like this. Tane had no idea. Tane also didn't care. What did it bother to talk to strangers anyway? He wasn't in charge of this operation. He was only the hired brains.

"Indeed seems the case. Everyone's got someone to find,"
he remarked absently, giving a nod towards Dante. Zeid was looking for his mother, Rachel had been looking for news on Zen, and this newcomer was looking for a child. It just went full circle here. Tane was looking for no one on his own though, just his own ego and fame. "We ought to start a lost and found."

They'd come out here and found this fellow and quite honestly, Tane didn't know what to say. He didn't wish to divulge into the details of their quest if it wasn't his place. This man was offering to help? Were they going to allow that? Were they going to give their secret mission away to just any and every man, woman, or child that 'offered to help'? He met eyes with Dante curiously, the question lingering in his gaze. He could be good and hold his tongue, keep secrets, and only speak about what he was allowed to speak about. So professional.

Unable to answer, he could only shrug and comment on this 'goddess healer whatever' business this fellow appeared to be a part of. "Came a bit late. I've already been healed." Whether he meant his physical injuries from the previous night's arena fight or some measure of sarcasm about spiritual healing though was anyone's guess. "Pleasure to meet you though. Tane Kooper. I'm a detective around these parts. Helping out this pair with their missing person's case." Now that wasn't giving anything away as it had already been said the boy was looking for his mother. He offered a hand, "Finding what's hidden is something of a specialty. And speaking of-" He drew his eyes back to Zeid, "I think I can answer your question. Got something we wanted your input on." And he left it at that.

Dante shifted his focus to Ruarc and narrowed. He spoke of being a servant but how much detail he gave was still cause for some worry. People followed the goddesses to a point of no return hence and point, the Order. But, still they had more info than this man was handing out. Either he was being extremely careful or he was actually honest with no actual info to be given. "Blindly following where you are told to go. I've seen worse." Zeid was looking between them all. A child watching adults act strangely and not quite grasping the concept as of why. "I doubt any of us have the time or will to start such a place, but it could prove valuable." He'd offer a gentle laugh at the idea.

It appeared he was not the only one being rather skeptical about Ruarc. Tane was most likely doing his detective thing and studying the man whilst they talked. Although, what the Ace would find would have to be asked later. When they were out of ear shot.

Rather the conversation shifted enough that Zeid was looking at Tane with eager attention. "Of course, though I assume you want to ask me in private."

"One thing at a time though." Dante tilted his head indicating that of their large hylian person standing there. "I'm sure you can understand our cryptic responses Ruarc and this whole situation. Whilst I am not normally the one to turn away help our current predicament is a little more sensitive than most would even understand. I'd like to figure out this situation as best as we can though it is clear neither side can give too much info to the other. Which of course puts us in a very awkward place." He gave Tane a side look. Ruarc was evidently the sort who was made to be a powerhouse. But if the timing had to come down where Dante and Tane had to make a choice, he was almost sure they could handle it. Although that could be a bluff.

"Instead of wasting each of our time and trying to hint at what can't be said in public, I suppose I ought to ask the burning question." Red orbs thinned again. "I'll be blunt in hopes to expedite this. You are looking for a kid, do you personally believe that Zeid is the one you were looking for? I doubt you go around trying to make friends with kids in the first place. If we can establish what you believe of the current moment, I am sure we can come together in a logical response to deal with the remainder of this as adults." He just hoped Tane had a gift for being able to sense or read if someone was lying or not. "I'll keep on the side of skeptical and let Tane be the one to see if you are to be believed in your words or not. Naturally I have the idea of keeping Zeid safe as his current guardian and employer."

As it became apparent that Ruarc had to think about what Dante was bringing up, the boy turned to face the detective. Sizing him up as his lips quirked into a half smirk. There wouldn't be any better time than now to perhaps talk about what Mr. Kooper had been thinking about. After all he did said he had a few things he wanted to run by Zeid. Even if it was evident that he didn't want to say them in front of the large silent man.

"Since Dante is currently busy;" A brush of his thumb pointed to the current guardian, "Did you want to step aside and talk Mr. Kooper? I know you said you had something you wanted my input on." There was no better time than when Dante was slightly distracted. It would probably give Ruarc a chance to talk adult to adult without him around.

Even if he was still considered young compared to the three adults here, Zeid knew when a conversation no longer needed his attention. They were being polite about it but it was no less apparent.

"Sounds like an idea." Dante chimed in having been paying attention. His arms were crossed firmly over his chest trying to look intimidating. Whether that was intentional or not was verbally confirmed. "We'll be a minute or two. Depending."

    "All yours Mr. Kooper."

Still uncomfortable with the stranger, Tane began nodding as Zeid brought up the suggestion to step aside. There were things he wanted to ask the kid, but this situation was delicate. Zeid and Dante hinted at so much and, if Tane was anything, he was not going to betray that understanding. "Please excuse us then," he said, placing a hand upon Dante's shoulder, giving the man a curious look. It wasn't like he didn't trust any strangers. He just simply.... didn't trust any strangers. At least, not right now.

Tane led the way, trying to get far enough away from the stranger that he might not creep in and listen, but not too far that he would think they were somehow trying to escape and ditch him for any reason. Though, the man could think what he wanted. If he thought that they were going to ditch, then he could deal with that disappointment. Tane supposed it was his attitude and what he wanted to do with it.

    "Listen,"
he said, stopping by some shelves of educational books of a sort. Grammar and spelling and the like, he really only glanced for a moment because his eyes wandered. "We found something we thought you ought to look at. I wanted your opinion on it. Specifically, I wanted your take on there." Extending a hand, Tane offered out a couple scrolls of maps the two had found after the boy wandered off. "If these old maps might hold a clue to and potentially forgotten locations your mother may have thought to journey to." He tried be somehow both specific and vague just in case someone was still listening in around here, and so avoided words like 'old shrines she might have opened' or 'distant lands she sought out'.

Glancing backwards to make doubly sure that Dante and Ruarc weren't suddenly on hostile terms, he followed after the detective. Careful not to literally be on his heels. Personally he wasn't sure what either of them could have found within the library that would have needed his thoughts. Yet, he wasn't about to turn down the chance either. Something about being included was very tempting. Probably he was usually put aside and made to listen rather than offer his own thoughts.

"Okay," Zeid gave a eager grin letting it loosen and disperse into a soft frown. Taking the old maps and rolling them out somewhat between his fingers; confusion was almost immediate. Good thing Mr. Kooper was as bright and ready to fill in the blanks. "These are all of the old country." The wording felt strange on his lips but it got the point across. There were a few details spots that he didn't know about. Many that no longer existed in their current reality and some that were merely ruins one could visit. A tragic fate really.

"Considering she had the intention of uniting the lands." Zeid looked at the southern portion of one map, "I would say it was probably highly liking she would have visited locations that were forgotten." A flick of his hands suggested the maps, hoping he was on the right track for the Ace. "There aren't many options left in this time but that might be exactly what we need, right?" Quirking his neck and head alike, he questioned the detective. "What sort of locations are you thinking of Mr. Kooper?"

"That was my thought as well," Tane confirmed with a nod of his head, "And Dante's. There are so many forgotten lands far past our now established borders. There's nothing left around here to unite. Rauru and Kasuto are fine. The Outpost as well. If I were looking to find the lost, to unite the masses, I would turn outwards and away from perfectly situated establishments and I would reach out towards places where the law of today doesn't cover."

He gave it a bit of thought, taking his time to glance again at the maps. "So much of this in unfamiliar to me," he admitted, "Some places I've never been, some I've never even heard of, and some I thought were just a product of myth and legend. It's amazing how much can be forgotten in such a short amount of time. Just a matter of decades and we've lost nearly half our and."

"I'm afraid I've no idea what I should suggest,"
he said then, shaking his head, "Your mother could have gone anywhere. But if it's people she's looking for, do any of these maps tell of old cities? Somewhere big, probably the most populated lands. That's where I would suggest to start."

Crinkling up his nose as the detective spoke sensical volumes. As much as he wanted to find his mother, the truth of the matter was she could be literally anywhere. The world may have been broken up but it was still vast. Rolling the papers wider so he might look at them a little harder, he’d nod along. “Old cities?” He paused at the word, turning a blue eye upwards to the elder man. Carefully looking him up and down though mostly peering through him. Rattling his brain to recall something that had been spoken about in his youth that he may have lost in the growing years.

Cities.” He repeated, looking back to the map. “I-

Pressing his lips in a tight pinch, Zeid would adjust his frame to stand almost shoulder to shoulder with the Ace. “Mr. Kooper, what about closer towards the Southern Hyrule. The part that we are cut off from due to you know,” gesturing loosely, it was evident the boys mental wheels were spinning. “I remember people always talking about how the Castle City was large but some of our larger, grander cities were further south. If we are cut off, wouldn’t that make sense to reunite?” Honestly, he was grasping at whatever thought came fluttering into his skull in hopes to makes some sort of sense.

There was a city in the lower part that was apparently like the Castle City and had its own form of royalty. Though I think they were just like barons or something.” Shoulders shrugged softly, “But, what if that was what she meant? Uniting the lands.” Curiosity piqued in the boys stare now suddenly hoping Dante would come back and they could move on. Even if this was just some ramblings of a over eager kid.

"Southern Hyrule," Tane repeated, "I can honestly say I've never been there myself, but I've heard the stories. I heard anywhere from the war separating it from the rest of Hyrule, terrible monsters roaming the roads and killing anyone who comes close, even so far as earthquakes that collapsed everything south of us here. Of course then there was also a tale that the land broke away and fell into the ocean. I'm not sure if any of these stories are true. People tend to make up the most ridiculous of tales to try and explain away mysteries after all." He waved a hand through his hair, a smirk on his face. He liked tall tales like that. So many he'd heard were woven around the infamous Blight. What a total mystery Blight was.

He had honestly no idea what Zeid was trying mean by 'you know' and trailing off. Did the boy know and was trying to figure out how to explain or did he too have no idea what story was truth?

Tane left that fall off as he thought on the idea of a city even bigger than Castle City. "You know," he said, "If there was a place even bigger, then the people would have to still be around somewhere. We may have lost many in the war, but scattered as they were, there were many survivors. There are always survivors. They must be out there somewhere in the dark... lost and without guidance. It's just as well if she went out looking for them. Maybe others should have had that same intuition and we wouldn't be sitting in such a hopeless place."

He snapped his fingers, "We should bring this up with Dante.I think we've got ourselves a lead."

Zeid smirked listening to Mr. Kooper recall the rumours and hearsay of others. "Considering we are stuck up here, I am not surprised no one really knows." After all the south was separated from them but some unknown force. Like Lake Hylia, their major transport arteries were clogged. It made more and more sense to why his mother would want to be working towards uniting the lands. They were broken, more so than one really thought about. Zora's were out of their homes, the hylians were everywhere. Kokiri lost their home, it seemed like those who only have their place was the goron's but that may have had something to do with their neutral stance on the war. He could be wrong.

"Do you really think there are other people beyond the borders, like us?" The boy asked earnestly jumping a little to the snap of Mr. Koopers fingers.

"A lead?" Dante spoke up seemingly being pulled out of the scene like a type casted character; Zeid turned to look up at the sheikahn. "What sort of lead?"

Peering around the other to see if the giant was with him, a hand was pressed to his shoulder instead. It would appear Ruarc wasn't coming with and he had a suspicion Dante wouldn't explain why either right now. "It's a good thing we have Mr. Kooper. He is really good at this whole deducing thing."

"I really do," Tane nodded even as Dante approached again. So he said it again so the main could hear as well, "If there was such a vast population somewhere in Hyrule, there have to be at least some people left somewhere. Nothing short of a total major, natural disaster could wipe everyone out. Even then, it would have to be something of insane proportions. Man is exceptionally resilient to disasters and surviving against all odds is a gift our races have been granted." 'Man' in this case, of course, including humanoid like races like Zora and Gorons.

    "Now then."

He regarded Dante, arm outstretched to pass one of the scrolls his way, "I believe our direction of travel should be to the south of here. According to these maps, there used to be cities in the south. As Zeid as said, some just as grand or even greater than the castle city that once stood here as a shining jewel of our land. If anyone's going to be looking for people, why not head to what could have once and might still be the largest pocket of citizens int his country?"

He held up a finger, "The problem, however, is that we don't know exactly what cut us off in the first place. We should investigate this, I'm sure." Before attempting to venture south, it would only make sense to first find out why no one else has ever done it yet.

"Considering there is still more than a mere handful of us up here," Dante chimed in echoing Tane's thoughts, "More down south would only seem logical." Nodding to each of the men saying their peace with firm hope that there were others beyond their borders; Zeid watched the pair of them. Intent with knowing what their next action was.

Taking the scrolls that were offered, the sheikahn gave them another look over. Staring long and hard before looking up. "Well if we are following after her footsteps," Implying her without giving the princesses name out too willy nilly; "Then perhaps we should start with the largest former settlement closest to the Southern Border." Shaking the scroll as it was careful rolled back up; Dante smirked.

"What place is that?" Zeid dared to ask wondering if it had been one of the three he had noted on the map, when he had looked.

"Mercay seems like our first logical stop. It was the focal point between the canyon walls that lead up from the south. The half way town if you wanted to call it something. Seems like a logical point to start. Though I can't say if we will have any sort of waypoints to tell where it once stood. If I recall, closer to the border, there is nothing but plains and emptiness." Dante shrugged and offered the scroll back to Tane, "But I suppose that's what we have you for Tane. Discovering what is hidden, even if it might be a lost city."

Zeid audible made a surprised noise before turning to look up at the red haired man. "Imagine being able to find an entire city lost to the world. You'd be the greatest detective ever."

"Mercay," Tane repeated curiously. Honestly, he had never heard of it. Never had been there of course. It sounded mystical and potentially did not even exist. That would certainly make sense. Not that it didn't exist, but that it felt like it might not exist. This whole adventure sounded like something out of a fairytale, a legend that was pure fiction. Tane was quite excited to be able to prove it wrong and pull the truth from these stories. He was going to uncover the reality and he was going to be famous for it. If such a quest might put his name up in the stars, he would even be allowed to leave Blight behind and be at peace. Gaining fame in another way meant he no longer had to chase shadows to drag himself up.

    "We're going to need supplies,"
he began, "A lot of them. I've never been very far south myself because it's, as you say, empty. As far as my knowledge goes, there are no outposts that far south." They'd need food, water, and blankets. They would need horses to travel with and probably weapons in case they encountered any of the mythical beasts he'd heard stories about.

"If we can find any more literature that details cities in the south, we should take them. Our best bet for information would be any outpost or outlying settlement. Hera or possibly Blue Maiden. They're always full of adventurers and rangers. It's very highly possible that travelers or treasure seekers might have taken a few trips into the plains to know some of the landscape."
He chuckled and threw his hands up, "Though, judging by the horrible stories I hear of beasts roaming, it's also equally as high a possibility that no one has ever dared trek that direction."

Shifting weight from one foot to the other, he had to agree reluctantly. Anyone he knew didn’t travel that far south. Always telling stories of how the beasts that far were beyond feral. As if they were possessed by otherworldly bodies that forced them to be things of nightmares. Granted a lot of their stories were hearsay from another person who told them. Possibly getting larger and more out of control with their tales until it was just an unbelievable scary story. But there would have to be some truth in them. “If there is, I haven’t ever heard of them that far.” Honestly, he had hoped they were wrong in that regard. Perhaps there was an outpost that deep south, but no one ever went so it was considered nonexistent.

I’ll go see if I can find more!” Zeid volunteered in a hurry, dashing off before Dante could even get a word in edge wise. At least it was just the library, unless he was going to get eaten by a book; there was really no sense of danger here.

Instead he gave a fold to his arms, neatly over his chest whilst nodding along to Tane’s wise words. “Let’s stay with the former and believe that there was someone curious enough to venture that far. And let’s also hope they were smart enough to return alive with valuable information to guide us.” Hera or Blue Maiden may have been the closest places, but they would still be days walks away from how far they were planning. Not exactly a jaunt away. “Do you think you can find a more up to date map that we can sign out of here and take with us to compare to that of this one,” Dante shook his hand to gesture the old vintage map they had. “I’ll see if I can locate some reading material that even ventures a guess to anything being towards the south.

"A more up to date map," Tane nodded, "Of course. I'll go grab one. I saw a few when we were fishing around." That was a good idea. They couldn't be wandering the countryside with ancient maps of locations that may no longer be there and geography that probably changed because of the warring armies. A surefire way to get themselves lost and having no idea where they were going.

"You find that, I'll get some maps, and when we're out of here, maybe we can attempt to locate nearby travelers that could know of the lay of the land that way."
He turned to start fishing through shelves, trying to relocate the maps he had passed up when searching.

"We're out of my comfort zone here. I've been almost everywhere in Hyrule... except the south. All my work requires me to be near people. No crime happens out in the middle of nowhere.."
He paused, then shrugged, "Well... nothing that gets reported. Way out there there's rarely any witnesses nor people around to discover the body." A gruesome thought, for sure, but no less truth. "This will be a new experience for me to be able to add to my list."

    "Ah! Here!"
Snatching a parchment roll off a shelf, he held it out for Dante, "I knew I saw one somewhere around here. This is a map that was drawn supposedly right after the war ended and life started falling back into place. It's... mmm roughly ten to twenty years old, but it should still be acceptable for our needs."

Scrolling through the stacks, there were a few interesting titles that popped out at him. Nothing of relevance but no less interesting. Offering his attention to Tane whilst he was speaking, venturing around one of the columns of books; he had to chuckle. “I am in the same boat as you Tane. I’ve wandered as far as I comfortably could but never towards the south. Unless someone formally paid me to go out that way, I never did. Which I was never paid, so the lack of motivation still stands.” Grazing his finger prints over that of the spines, one or two drew some raised brows.

Well, if you were a murderer, suppose that far south would be a decent place to stash a body.” Not realizing the affect such words could have or how close to a truthful point was made, Dante pulled a yellowed spine from the stack. Worn cover, “That’s not bad. It falls within the realms of our history line. So it should be historically accurate enough to prevent us from getting lost that way.” A field guide of the southern Hyrule and that of the hidden passage that lead into the deep once civilized Hyrule. “This ought to work.” Deciding he wasn’t going to get any luckier than this; stepping around the bookcase; he took the offered parchment. The book he held went under his arm as he unfurled the parchment.

Wow, I didn’t realize there was once so many settlements that way.” A nod and an eye up, “This will work, good job Tane. Now… we just need to find Zeid and perhaps start getting ourselves towards the south. Good thing we have a horse and wagon. Probably will need to stop in Hera to make my shipment delivery to the Harp, less I run my business underground.” Folding the parchment back up to offer it to Tane, “Anything you know you need before we hit the ground running?”

"Indeed it would be." Tane agreed so readily on the very idea that the wilds were a good place to hide bodies. One could get away with so many crimes, and no one would even know. Of course, you could always go Blight's route as well and craft yourself a perfect disguise and alias and still no one would figure it out. Either Blight was a genius or the usual law enforcement of the current cities were comprised mostly of fools. Tane liked to think a mixture of both in perfect harmony.

Turning his head, he scanned aisles for the boy in a most lazy sort of way. He was around somewhere, Tane just didn't move from his spot and only looked down three or four aisles. He was too busy trying to think if he needed to do anything before setting out. "My affairs are all in order," he confirmed, "I have nothing on my plate at the moment and no one important I need to see." Fixating the parchment into his coat, he smiled, "I'll arrange for supplies and mounts if we'll need them."

No charge, of course. This was all for the benefit of his fame. If this mission wound up finding someone of such great importance then there was going to be no need for rupees, and as such no need to attempt to drain poor Dante dry.

"Why don't we meet back at Hera then and set out from there?"

"Most of ours are as well. Again, just need to drop shipment off at Hera so the Harp can function without my presence for a while longer." Tucking the tome and scrolls alike under an arm to lead between the stacks; he'd look up and down each one until Zeid's frame came into view.

Holding a couple books most moderately thin. They didn't seem to be anything important considering they were put back when Dante gave a sharp whistle. The boy turned to look at them both, "We're done here. Got a plan in place."

Neatly making sure those tomes he put back were in order, the boy returned to that of the elder men's side looking up at them both. Curious blue eyes moving between the two of them. "Where are we heading firstly?"

"Quick stop to give Emery the supplies we originally came here for then towards the south. We can load up on anything we need at the Harp if we really need too." Affirming his own thoughts verbally, it would seem they were good to go.
