Entering into Rauru, the first thing for Tiketh to see and the path he led was through a bustling market street. The streets were wide enough for the crowds and still had room for carts and wagons to go through, bumping along on the cobblestones. Market stalls were set up on either side with wares ranging from foods to toys to weapons, even clothing and accessories like jewelry and bags. Canvas roofs of all colors fitted over the tops of the stalls in no particular pattern or design. The signs hanging up were really the easiest and only way to tell where things were and who was selling what without approaching each stall and looking for yourself.

Tiketh wasn't really one hundred percent up for shopping, but the market was a great place to show his new companion around first thing at least. His arms were weak and his legs felt like they were made of putty, but he had caught enough of a second wind that he was feeling more up to walking and sight seeing. Resting would come in due time. He also needed to get some good, new clothes that weren't shredded nearly beyond recognition.

"Is there anything you wanted in the market?"
he asked curiously as he walked, "They have so much here and I've always been able to find anything I'm looking for. I should really try and find a change of clothes before anything else and make myself look a little more presentable. In a place like this among all these people, I can only imagine what they'd be thinking when they see me." As he talked, he could already pick out several passerbies that were sneaking glances his way. Did he really look that bad? Curious, he asked his new friend, "May I ask you something? How terrible would you say I look right now?" He tugged at his tattered coat and looked it over as best as he could. "Maybe I can find something nice to replace this. I really liked this coat honestly..." It was going to be sad to lose it/

  2. So many people, so many foods, so much stuff! Keaton could get used to the hustle and bustle of this village without a doubt. He went over a small mental checklist while stopping by each cart. He needed:
    • Something to light fires with
    • Medical Tape
    • New sword? (Optional, he can't afford that. His spear is fine on its own for now)
    • Something sweet (Optional, but preferred)
So far he had found two of those, and was looking for candy when asked the question about Ben's tattered up coat.

The coat has got to go, you can barely even tell it is a coat, and it smells like...well, take a guess. Letting go of that stuff was hard, as Keaton had found out when he first lost his red scarf (he found it, obviously), but sometimes you just have to do it. Keaton looked around, trying to spot something similar to the coat Ben had on, trying to be somewhat useful.

Approaching one of many stalls and shedding his coat at the nearest opportunity after emptying each pocket, he gingerly reached hands back to poke and prod at healing wounds and a shirt that likely looked even worse than his coat. Bloodstains were very easy to see on lighter, thinner fabric. If it could even be called a shirt anymore, it would definitely have to go as well. He didn't like the idea, however, of stripping in the middle of the street like some open house side show for people to come and gawk at. He scouted out for somewhere private, preferably curtained in or walled up where could procure a changing room of a sort. Maybe he'd even get lucky and find a mirror! That would be fantastic!

"Sir! Oh my goodness, sir, you're bleeding!"
Some young lady (probably the one who owned the stall he was standing at) came prancing over to show her undivided concern over the stains and the wounds. She probably didn't see this sort of thing very often and was eager to try and either do something to help or to direct him to better help so she didn't have to get her hands dirty trying to learn how to treat injuries.

Lucky for her for the moment, she had to do neither. He shook his head. "Not anymore they're not. A few days old at the most, really." Not healed, but at least done with the most messy part of their process. "I'll get them taken care of soon, I promise." He countered, hands up in surrender as it looked like she was about to open her mouth with a bunch of 'But you should really do something then' kinds of speech.

He took a glance at the wares. "Uhm.." he began, "Right now my friend here and I are browsing and looking for a few things. Before I get anything else for myself, I just really want, well, a shirt and coat that are in one piece so I don't look like a bum begging in the market.." Unable to see for himself with no mirrors nearby, he could only guess his entire body was so caked with dust that he looked like had been rolling around in a mud pit for hours. Okay, maybe that was an exaggeration, but he knew it was bad enough.

"If you could maybe find me whatever you've got in this size and I can come back if you're busy..?"
He questioned carefully, adding a hopeless shrug. Looking back to Keaton, he sighed, "This feels like running errands... I just feel so grimy and gross. I'll stil lmake this up to you." He couldn't help but feel horrible for the kid sitting through him doing a shopping checklist. "Should we take a look around some more? If there's anything you need, here's the place to find it. I found this, too, if you're strapped for rupees." Reaching into his pants pocket, he pulled out one of many things taken from his coat. It was a bag with a pretty hefty weight to it, filled to the brim with rupees no doubt. For the life of him, he could not answer where he'd gotten it all, but it wasn't stolen... probably. No wait definitely. Benjamin Tiketh was many things, but a thief he was not!

  4. This bag was immensely heavy. Keaton didn't want to accept it at first, but...the sword was calling his name, and he felt like treating himself just this once wouldn't hurt. Slipping it into his pack, Keaton poked around looking for a sword shop, or weapons place, or something like that, and found one hidden away in a small corner. He quickly slipped inside

"Welcome to the- oh, hello there kiddo, you get lost or somethin? I-"
He was interrupted by the child pointing at a rather fine sword.
"K-kid, that sword costs (large number of rupees because i dunno zelda economics), and you look like, what, 8 years old? What makes you think I'll-"
Keaton slams the bag of rupees onto the mans desk
"...Ah, your one of those adventurer types, aren't you? Alright, lemme see here..."
While the shop owner started counting up the rupees, Ben might notice a mirror behind some other weapons

The sword felt good in Keat's hands. Light, but powerful. He slipped it into a leather harness on his back, handing the bag back to Ben, smiling.

Glad for his contribution, Tiketh happily tagged along to the weapons' shop, stepping inside and out of the packed market rows. Looking at the array of arms and armor was a good way to kill a few minutes while he awaited the pretty little miss at the tailor's stall to find him something that would match his dear departed coat.

A whistle somewhere over his shoulder brought attention to some human who was gazing at his scythe. One of a kind it was with hinges and clamps that allowed it to be folded up for easy storage, the blade allowed to be folded down for safe keeping. A rare beauty really. Yet, here it was unfolded to its fullest for all his leaning pleasures. It really did make a great walking stick when he needed one. It wasn't Tiketh's only weapon ever, but it sure was his favorite.

"Where'd you get such a thing?"
the man would ask, to where he only told him back that it was a long story. It really was and he didn't want to stand around here forever telling it to some oogly eyed fellow who would probably only try to buy it off him once the tale had been told.

Side stepping him and gazing at more blades and blunt instruments. Against a far wall, he spotted armor displays all perfectly polished and just begging for someone to come by and get their fingerprints all over and smudge them right up. With so much shining metal, he was thankful there was also shining glass in such a manner he could finally check his own appearance and see how worse he was for wear.

...and he really wished he hadn't. "Gods, I look terrible," he groaned pathetically to no one in particular. "But after the day's shopping is done, we'll have a good night's bath, won't we? Won't that make you happy, Take.." Biting his tongue, he stopped, utterly horrified. The spirit still hadn't emerged again, yet here he was talking to it like it was standing next to him plain as day for all to see. One slip of the tongue. Would he ever get used to being free?

Backing off from all that, he took his rupees and made an effort not to think about Take. "That sword looks great on you," he commented proudly, arms crossed tight over his chest, "I don't know a lot about weapons, but this one's top quality if I do say so." If the prices didn't give that away... "Swordplay isn't one of my good talents, but I know enough to not be killed too easily." Swordplay in the sense he spoke of likely meant bladed weapons in general, scythe included.

  6. (Sorry! I fell asleep because it was like, 1 pm.)

...Take? That name kept coming up from him. Was it some kind of old friend? He didn't seem happy to mention the name, however. Hopefully one day Keaton would learn more about him. Meeting him might be nice too, but lets hope he's a good person.

Keaton was proud of the sword, after years of carrying around some rusty one, that finally fell apart about two months ago, feeling the handle felt great. However...he thought the blade was too nice. I mean, its made out of stainless steel! He wanted the sword to be his trump card, something to use when times get really tough. So he decided it would be a secondary weapon, something to use if the spear either broke or just wasn't doing anything during a fight. Besides, his spear was special to him.

Keaton gave a puzzled look, glancing at the scythe. If swordplay isn't one of your good talents, why carry that around? Another story for another time, he supposed.

Catching the look, Tiketh started giving thought on how to best explain. Oh yes, he thought, You see I was, until quite recently, sharing my body with a vengeful, blood crazy spirit. He's the fighter, and I'm not. Instead of daring to speak any of that, he began with something else. "I can fight," he confirmed, "I just prefer to find other methods first." If he didn't need to fight to get out of a situation, if there were a way to talk himself out, that would be the most ideal path for him to follow.

He wondered if if was any consolation that his weapon of choice was an unwieldy tool more often seen associated with farming and cutting through grass. To be used as an instrument of defense and death instead was a talent in and of itself. Maybe it was a sign. Maybe it meant he should stop his wandering and go settle down at a nice ranch and raise some cattle. Thinking about that, he cringed and shook his head. No way. No. He wasn't farming material. That wasn't him at all. It was far too boring and laborious.

"I've been told before that I'm too kind-hearted to hurt anyone..."
If only that were really true... "I wonder if that's really how I come across as. I guess I never really thought about it before." He smiled cheerfully, feeling a little better. Well, aside from being his usual hurting and tired, that is. Emotionally, he was doing very well. "I hardly even use my magic. Honestly, I sometimes even forget about it." If that was a thing that was possible, then it was for him. Magic in his mind was like another sense. To forget it was essentially the same as forgetting you had hands, to forget your sense of smell or touch or taste... and yet he so easily dismissed and forgot his magic. It wasn't like he ever had a good use for it. That could be the reason.

Changing the subject to something else, he asked, "Let's see then. What else do we need? After a change of clothes, food, and a good washing, I guess I can only think of a few leisurely things." That was also if he had enough rupees for everything. After all that, he'd have to get right back in to doing jobs to earn more rupees. It was just a never ending struggle, wasn't it?

  8. So he can fight, that's good. Keaton wondered why he would choose a scythe though. Honestly, however, it really wasn't that odd. He once met a knight who used a shovel to fight, maybe there's an entire league of "farmer fighters" out there. He chuckled at the thought, that can't be true, its too silly.

As the one sided conversation kept going, Keaton noticed that Ben was doing much better. Emotionally, physically he was still a wreck, but that should hopefully change soon.

Oh, he can use magic? Keaton had never learned, but recently he's taken a small interest in healing magic, after he realized medical tape wasn't the answer to everything. It'd probably be really tough to learn, however. He wasn't sure where to find a teacher anyway. Something for the backlog, I suppose.

Keaton had just about everything he needed, flint to start a fire, his cool sword, and some more medical tape, because it never hurts to carry some. He decided to spend maybe three days or so here, and then he would check out that "katsuro" place.

Keaton wondered if that one girl found those clothes yet.

Fingers working, rolling around the remaining rupees in the purse, Tiketh was satisfied as he could be. He nodded once. Between this and whatever he could earn through playing at the inn, the pair were set for a while. Stepping out of the weapons' shop, he spoke again. "I can't say how long I'll be staying here in Rauru. It'll be at least until I'm feeling up for a long day's traveling. Well... or unless I could find a wagon or horse or hitch a ride to somewhere else." This was one time of a few times where he truly wished he had a seriously permanent structure and his own horse to care for and ride off into the sunset with. He would name such a valiant steed, something noble and proud, and would spend countless amounts on shoeing and dressing the beast with the best saddle and gear. He'd never given thought to anything of the like before, but wow did that sound like fun!

Back out in the sun, he raised a hand to shield his eyes until they could adjust again to the brighter outdoors. He hadn't realized how much darker it was inside than out. "I've never been one for adventuring, you know. There was an event some time ago... one time when I was brave and curious and adventurous. I explored ruins and it sure was fun, well at least until it wasn't..." That was when he had first met Take. The memory nagged at him, biting and irritating. "Have you ever done something that you wish with all your heart you could somehow go back and undo?" Oh but he didn't have to worry now. Take was gone. For good. ...Right?

Back at the clothier's stall, he raised a hand to greet the pretty miss who he hoped had been horribly busy fulfilling his request. A quick strained look passed his face as the act of waving pulled at tissue not yet closed over with old scars and forgotten. If he was going to keep getting scarred up, he wondered briefly if it would make him look too gruesome. Eventually. Someday. One day he was going to get one somewhere not easily hidden by clothing, without making it obvious of course that he was hiding something.

    "Oh good you're back!"
the lady called gleefully, swinging her arms through the air with complete abandon. "I took a look at what you left here and I think I found something that matches it. It's just the same size, too! Why don't you try it on?" Hopping away in an incredibly giddy manner, she fetched a long dark coat and brought up up for him to see. The material was thick, but that only served to make him like it more. If so thick, then shrapnel would not easily penetrate again. A dark brown in color along the outside, the stitching was red and the interior was comprised of some extremely soft fabric. Velvet perhaps?

Removing his torn shirt entirely, he scrapped it and tried on just the coat before he could succumb to any such feelings of being exposed and embarrassingly half naked in the middle of town. Moving this way and that, he grinned and nodded. "It feels great. Keaton, what do you think? Do you like it?"

  10. Keaton wouldn't mind staying here until his partner got better, but hopefully they would get better soon. He wondered if they had enough rupees to afford a horse, which would be rather nice. Judging by the weight of the bag even after he bought the sword, it would be a maybe. Keaton also had no idea how much a horse even costs, so its best to ignore him.

Back inside of the clothiers stall, he decided to take a look at some of the stuff on display. Nothing for people his size, it appears, but his shirt was holding up just fine, and he didn't plan on replacing his scarf anytime soon. Some gloves would be nice, but his hand wraps would work okay for now.

Upon examining the coat, his expression read somewhere along the lines of "its perfect". You could probably sleep in that and you wouldn't think it wasn't a blanket! Keaton gave a thumbs up.

Tiketh did a half twirl, liking very much both the look at the feel of the coat against his skin. He dared to think it was even better than his last one, would be once he broke it in and got used to it. "I'm glad you approve," he beamed, "It feels a little weird treating myself to something so nice." But Hell, he was allowed to splurge every once in a while, wasn't he? This coat would be a nice treat, and it wasn't like he didn't need it. Sure, it was warm now and getting warmer, but the pockets alone made it very useful to keep around. A nod to the shopkeeper, he decided, "I'll take it then. It's perfect."

    "Wonderful!"
she exclaimed, happily waiting as he dished out the rupees for the coat and a few clean shirts to go along with it. Packing what he wasn't wearing out into a satchel, she handed it back with what was left of his rupee purse. It was a great deal lighter now, but everything they got was an investment worth the price.

    "Sir,"
she began as she watched him pack things away, "Forgive me if this is too forward but... if you're staying in town for a while, I can point you to a skilled surgeon who can look at those gashes if you'd like."

Tiketh's shoulder slumped, a bit put off that it had to be so noticeable. At least his new coat hid it now. She was right though, at least in the sense that it was a good idea. "Of course," he said, "I don't know how long I'll be, but we'll be at least for the night. He can come meet me at the inn if that isn't too inconvenient." Hopefully that wasn't any trouble, and this would all be over soon.

    "I think first though,"
he decided, eyeing his partner, "I think first we've earned a good strong meal and a hot bath. On me, of course. The inn's got great accommodations. I vote we head there next unless there's something more you wanted first, before we turn in."

  12. If there's a skilled surgeon that will be coming around, maybe Keat could ask for a few tips. Anything to be more useful than slapping tape on a gash and calling it a day.

Keaton nodded, wondering what the inn would look like. He knew not to get his hopes up, but...the food. It was extremely hard not to think about the kinds of stuff they have in that inn. He was particularly hoping for some kind of meat. He remembered sitting next to a fire, cooking himself his daily hunt. The smells that would come from the meat was amazing, something he wouldn't forget. Chances are that they won't have anything too exotic, but honestly anything sounded good to Keaton. A hot bath wouldn't hurt either. Keaton realized that he hadn't exactly bathed in a long time, but judging on who he's been next to for the past couple hours, he probably hasn't been under suspicion.

Keaton took a step outside when he realized he had no idea where in inn was, and allowed Ben to lead the way.
