He is 26 and about 5’11” with a very slender build. He has always has very soft expression, but if you look deep into his blue eyes you can see his hunter’s prowess and sharp instincts. His face, like his body, is also very lean. His long brown hair is often filled with leaves, twigs and other natural things. He dons a brown cloak that is tethered near the ankles with leaves and twigs woven into it as to help camouflage him while hunting. He wears simple brown pants that tuck into his boots. He has a brown tunic with a leather piece over his chest, to provide extra protection, as well as small leather pads on his elbows and knees. The utility belt at his waist carries a small hunting knife, as well as simple herbs, tools, a waist quiver and a custom holster for his hunting crossbow Personality: Varus is very quiet and shy often trying to avoid conversation altogether. His social skills are something to be desired as well as he will almost never try to haggle the price of items and often getting lured into spending more than he should. He is also a very passive when it comes to decision making and just following along with what other people say. This bleeds over into has fighting style too, by staying back and fighting from afar with his crossbow. However this quietness and passive personality is easily overshadowed by his intense senses. He was naturally more keen than the average person from birth and honed his skills to become even better His perception is insane being able to see and hear things that are normally inaudible or undetectable. His keen senses are always on alert and will notice even the slightest things. His senses and hunter’s instincts allow him to sense his enemies before they are even aware there are enemies and hit his enemies with pinpoint accuracy Family: Father, Mother, and Mentor (all deceased: see History) Harma- a wolfos he has tamed and now accompanies him on adventures. Magical Talents: Varus is very talented in Forest magic, but uses it more supportively rather than offensively (ie, healing, simple slows and snares, increasing senses, etc.) Has basic shadow magic concealing spells. Though, he also has a great fear of magic and choses never to use it. Weapons and Talents: Crossbow, Forest magic, skill with the crossbow allows him to reload it with the same speed as a regular bow, Shadow magic. Strengths and Weaknesses: Strengths: There is almost nothing that can escape Varus’ keen eye, and his instincts keep him on his toes. He is very powerful at range with the his deadly accuracy and high damage, but sacrifices versatility. He can conceal to make it harder for enemies to pin him down. His snares and slows allow him to get out of sticky situations Weaknesses: Varus may be extremely powerful at range, but is left almost hopeless in a close quarters encounter. He also is not fond of using magic, as it reminds him of his tragic past, only using it when absolutely necessary. His social skills are also left to be desired as he had almost no contact with anyone other that his mentor for the greater portion of his life, which leads him to being very prone to haggling and Makes him more of a follower who kind of just plays along with things, as long as they don't clash with his ideals. History: Varus was born in a small village near the border between the warring counties of Hyrule and Ganon. For the most part the village had avoided conflict because of its small size and it being some way out of the way from where the major armies would clash. Varus grew up having a peaceful life with his family and had fun learning about the world. Varus was about 5 when the war started to wind down and both sides began to initiate the first fragments of the ceasefire. It was in these last days that his village was attacked. A small brigade of a splinter faction of Ganon’s forces, that was only interested in waging war and causing destruction, decided that this village would make a nice snack to feed their troops and hopefully anger the Hyrulians into canceling the ceasefire. They struck the village hard leaving no survivors. The men of the village gave everything they had to give the women and children a chance of escape. Varus and his mother ran with them, but the forces of Ganon soon began to hunt them all down for the fun of it. Varus’ mother hid Varus deep in the forest, in a large nest of shrubbery. She told him to stay there and not follow her. She then ran off and was never seen again. Varus stayed where he was for three days. Living off the berries that he had learned about. That was when a soldier of the evil forces found him. The soldier spent some time debating with himself on how to cook his new prey. This time is what allowed Varus to live. The soldier's face lit up as he exclaimed “POT ROAST!!”, but in the same moment of the soldier’s delicious thought, an arrow drove its way into his skull. An old man hobbled out from the trees. He squinted at his work, “Damn, I was aiming for his ear, i’m getting rusty” The old man turned to Varus and squinted. He nodded for Varus to follow so he did. The old man was an old hermit who had lived in the woods since he was born. He tutored Varus and he shaped Varus into an incredible hunter, teaching him how to excel at marksmanship and honing his senses. Varus and the old man grew very close going on hunting trips and small adventures together, but they never really left the forest and never really met too many other people. The man had never had a name or if he did he wouldn’t have a clue what it would be. Eventually though the old man grew really old and died of old age. Varus decided that he had lived off the man for most of his life and owed him a great debt. So Varus left the Man to sleep peacefully and searched for a way to repay the man in a way. He moved to the forest near Raru Village and set up a sort of trade for freshly hunted animal meat and pelts. He also goes adventuring for time to time to make some more money and try to break out of his his very introverted egg. Vaurs has since lived on his own and has only opened up to very few people. Namely, Mrs. Tweed, an older woman who runs an herb shop in Raru, and Harma, a wolfos that now accompanies him. Harma was the runt of a litter of wolfos and after the first week of her life, she was cast aside by her mother and left to die in the wilderness. Harma began to wander aimlessly, fearing for her life at every turn. It was then that she came across a small group of Moblins that grabbed her and took her back to there camp. She was caged and laughed at all day and night beaten frequently by the Mobins who used her for practice hitting moving targets. Then one night that a man came, and, using the element of surprise, attacked the camp killing most of the small group of moblins as the others fled believing it to be a much larger force attacking them. That man was Varus, he found Harma, and seeing the same scared and worn eyes that he had on that day he met his mentor, took her in. Over the next few months he nursed Harma back to health and gave her that name. They began to build a bond, and now Harma will loyally follow Varus into any danger they may face. Though she grown to full size and has become stronger than many wolfos due to her training with Varus, though she is still young as can be clearly seen in her playful and usually cheerful attitude.
